Post subject: DDRI "8 ohms total" speaker confusion

So the DDRI wants to see 8 ohms and the speaker jacks are parallel with one 8 ohm speaker on board. The jacks are labeled "8 ohms total". If you plug in another 8ohm speaker you get 4 ohms. It seems Fender is giving you an extension speaker jack and warning you not to use it.... :?:

Indeed, it's a pretty ambiguous situation.

I solved this dilemma by installing one of these in my DRRI......

My amp is an older model made in Brea, California and is equipped with a "dummy" ground/polarity switch. I wired that switch to select which secondary tap from the output tranny is active -- thus, I can safely run a 4Ω load all day long at full power without risk of damage.
