My DRRI experience so far:
Changed the tubes, all of them.
killed a couple of gz34-s
killed a pair of tung sol 6v6
killed the original "Groove" 6v6s
got some brand new resonating rectifiers
got a brand new microphonic pream tube.
changed the sockets to a kind that let the tubes move themselves quite freely, very loose... still they give a better connection than the original Ruby's

Now it has JJ's pair of 6v6 and JJ's gz34.
After a 2 hour stand by mode (maybe coincidence) it started to make that kind of noise: http://woolik.bumpclub.ee/~kunn/ppp/sahin.wav
the higher hiss is normal. the lower chaotic noise gets occasionally louder. sometimes there is a quiet "pop" and the noise just disapears and everything is ok. It is there also when all knobs are on zero. It comes and goes. Today it took 2 hours till the noise appeared. and now th noise has been there for several hours.
Is is the tubes or can it be something else... that also killed all together 5 tubes. (the other tubes went with other types of warning signs)

Thanks for listening to my whining and if you have a good idea what could be the problem then thanks in advance:)

Hi,

Make sure that your power valves are "6V6GTA".
(http://www.schematicheaven.com/fenderam ... manual.pdf)
:P

What I propose for the investigation is the following:

1. Open chassis and Check and refuel all soldering, check componant integrity visually and close the chassis.

Note that high voltage can be present on capacitors even after unplug that can kill you. Make sure the supply capacitors are discharged (with a 100K 2W) don't put your fingers but use a plastic screwdriver for instance.

2. Remove V4
Trial only on normal input
If noise doesn't come back the pb is not in the normal inputs 1&2

Then we will investate in reverb/vibrato circuit.

Let me know
