I have a question on the Fender Hot Rod Deville 212 combo amp. I would like to plug my Deville 212 combo into my Marshall 1960A 4x12 cab. The main reason is to set the 1960A cabinet on the other side of the stage during gigs to spread out the sound a bit. I really don't understand the impedance stuff, so I was hoping someone could help. I have provided a link to the manual for my cab and for the Deville below. Page 2 shows the speaker configuration information for the Marshall. Page 7 shows the speaker configuration for the Fender. The way I understand it, if I want to plug in an external speaker, it needs to be 4ohms. If I plug external speaker jack on the Deville 212 into my 1960A in the 4ohms input with the switch on mono, will that work? Does it make any difference that the Fender Hot Rod Deville 212 is running through 2 12" speakers and the 1960A has 4 12" speakers? Thanks for your help.

Hi Crm, you have it right, about using the 4ohm mono(1960A) plugged into the amps ext spkr jack. The amp will try to send the same output power to each group of speakers, but the most efficent group will sound louder. The sound spread should sound really good!! Welcome to the forum. Art

"They" were fulla SHlT.

You can drive whatever load you choose with a given amp, assuming the impedance load jives with the output tranny and you have sufficient power.

they are always "fulla"

So there is no danger to connect 4 more 12inch speakers to the cabinets extra in? the 60w from the amp would drive this perfekt???

or do i need to build the cabinett for 4 or 8 ohm? because they are almost allt in 16

I've driven a pair of 15-inch JBL D130Fs in a Dual Showman cab with a 6-watt Vibrochamp.

'Nuff said!

Bundari, welcome to the forum ! If you are going to build a speaker cab, I think you need to, first, decide on the amp that is going to drive it. The Orange, Marshall, and Fender head amps should make your speaker cab needs an easy choice. If you choose to join a combo amp to the speaker cab, then the manual will explain which ohmage cab is useful. Art

+1

And make sure you have the proper tools, materials, and skills for the job at hand.

I recommend starting with a good set of plans.

Alright..

I think i should buy a head amp instead then, if you got a head amp you can decide which ohm your cab is made for, am i uynderstanding this correct?

Do you guys have any plans for building a speaker cab?
