Personaly I'd start by using a graphic eq into the front of the amp, just to try and get the strident mids of the old Hiwatt amps. So set your amp clean then try the eq to sort that out before you add any other effects.

It's gonna be a thankless task as your always going to be battling the amps gain stages and stopping the amp overdriving. Pushing a good bit of mids into the amp is only going to exaserbate that. So your going to have to keep lowering the volume on the eq pedal.

Once you've got that in place then start worrying about adding drive from a pedal or two.

Please let us know how you get on. If you get Gilmour sound on the cheap, we could all do with some of that action  .

I have a Blues Jr. and a Blues Deluxe I run in stereo and this is what I use to try and sound like Gilmour sometimes...

Probably sound a lot better with two of the Hiwatt DG-103 Custom 100 David Gilmour Signature Tube Guitar Amp Head's, a couple of 4 x 10 cabs and a nice custom Pete Cornish pedal board though....

But they would call Homeland Security before the night was up....
