Can you imagine the ringing from having 3 or 4 plexi stacks set to destruct, night in night out. I mean a twin reverb is loud but plexis are just utterly painfull, even for a headbanger.

I'm just starting to get the syptoms of tinnitus. It aint nice, I can't hear the missus nag me at room volume. So she shouts. She's quite persistent that she should be heard.

In all seriousness JB with JTM's or DSL's dialled all the mid and bass out of the eq to help his hearing. Apparently the part of your ear that hears treble frequencies gives out. Hence the need for him to move to treble'ier amps.

I ought to learn to turn down.

You will enjoy the 59 bassman.Personally, if it were me ,I would swap out those power tubes for JAN Phillips WGBs . They make that thing sing.

Yeah when I first got my 1987x it was killing me at rehearsals,in a concrete basement no less, and that's just the 50w.I bought my attenuator the very next week.I sometimes wonder about the cats who are buying the 100w 1959 SLP's, I mean no one needs that volume. The attenuator's not quite as necessary now with mine because I dont run the amp wide open anymore. These days I set it cleanish & just boost the input.
