what are some good sounding replacement tubes for the hot rod devile amp? 212, 60W.

i want more defined gain channels and still have that lush clean sound. any suggestions would be helpful.

jj6l6 and jj 12ax7 tubes are good allround, but good gain in these amps is hard to get unless you put a pedal in front, and the master volume audio taper mod is essential.

jj are tubes, audio taper pot is for master volume, check link for justin holten mods for hrdlx here in modern amps

check out the convo
at Justin's site
regarding the volume control(s). replacing the
volume pots with "audio tapers".

the OEM'S are "linear taper" pots and the
volume comes up *way* too fast.

The HRD series amps use a linear taper volume pot. It makes the volume go from zero to full tilt by the time you hit 4 or 5 on the volume dial. It's supposed to make you believe the amp is way louder than it really is. In actuality it's no louder than any other amp of the same wattage. The HRD amps don't get much louder after 4 or 5 on the volume control. Audio taper is more gradual and is more like how humans perceive volume.
