I've been having trouble with the acoustic channel on my Super Champ XD (always sounds majorly distorted, even with no gain) but my other problem (which may or may not be related) is a... I guess "rattle" is the best word for it, that comes with certain notes on any channel/voicing.

Here's the weird, weird, result I just found while messing around. Most notes sound fine, but the following are accompanied by a rattle when I play them:

E-string, seventh fret (b)
A-string, second fret (b)
G-string, fourth fret (b)
D-string, tenth fret (b)
B-string open fret (b)
E-string seventh fret and nineteenth fret (b) sound fine

They're all B's, and yet the high B's sounds fine. I have a similar issue with D's. I don't know if it's the amp, the guitar (I've heard it could be the input jack), or a combination that's causing this. I'm going to have to take it in, obviously, but I'm bringing both to a friend's place tomorrow to play his guitar through my amp and vice-versa to see if I can isolate the malfunctioning piece of equipment. Has anyone come across anything like this before?

Sounds like something has worked loose to me cos it's all happening at the B pitch of 494Hz or multiples thereof. First off check the speaker is tight, then that the cabinet is still solid. Chase it all the way back to the guitar till you find a loose screw.
Being as though it only happens on one amp setting I strongly suspect the speaker is rattling around a bit.

The High B's at faster cycles as you go up in pitch are simply too fast to rattle the speaker.

That worked, thanks so much! I had tightened all the screws on the amp, but I went back and rechecked all of them and then tightened everything on my guitar and adjusted the pickups a bit. The rattle is gone now, but I'm still getting a pretty strong hiss on acoustic voice setting. Not as bad as before, but definitely noticeable. Any thoughts there?

Could be anything mate. Leads, pickups, guitar wiring, amp eq. I found that setting to be unnaturaly scooped. At best it's a approximation of how a acoustic eq'd as an acoustic sounds. It doesnt like Humbuckers or mid boosted clapton strats much.

What do you use that setting for anyhow???

Yeah, I have no idea what's going on... It's not like I use that setting all that often, but I like to have all my options open when recording. I played again today and the rattle is back now too, even after checking all the screws. I guess I'm just going to have to take it in and see what a tech guy can do with it. I'm at my wits end over here, but I appreciate your help.

Side note, I when I play my iPod through the amp, everything sounds fine, on every channel/voicing. Which makes me think it must be the guitar, unless I just don't notice it (because the amp's volume is only at 1.5 with the iPod).
