After owning a Bjr and doing a good few mods to it, the first thing I'd do is sort out that ridiculously hot bias setting.

Cool that off a load, then spend a good week or two listening to it whilst you consider your next move.

I like to bias a little hot, but all that does in the Bjr is seriously cook the tubes and cause other heat related problems further down the road.

You can learn some biasing stuff at www.eurotubes.com
There are biasing videos and info there.
There is some info here too.

I'd also recommend the "RCA Receiving Tube Manual", version RC26 or newer. You can usually find them on Amazon for fifteen or twenty bucks. A very handy reference for maintaining and trouble-shooting a tube chassis, regardless of brand.

Just depends on how deep you want to go. Be warned, it's really addicting.

i just want to know more about tubes and their effect on amps and tone.
theres more to it than i ever expected.
being pretty much a solid state guy all these yrs, ive missed out
on the tube learning/experience. ive had some tube amps as ive stated, but always just replaced with like tubes and the tech never questioned me.
from reading some of your posts, ive learned theres lots more to them than i expected.
