Hey all,

I've had this blues deluxe for a while now- love the amp, but recently the clean channel has been sounding nasty, like bad nasty... Mostly the low end around volume of 2.5/3+ starts to have an ugly distortion. I remember the amp sounding much cleaner when I bought it new... So far I've put in another eminence, changed all tubes and did the 12at7 swap... Any ideas?

Did you check the bias after putting in new power tubes?

this model, i wanna say 2005, is actually a fixed bias. I have to buy a kit to re-bias it which i thought was kinda weird....

I've also swapped several different brand of tubes, including the originals which are still good and it produces the same effect.

It could still be the bias or the filter caps too. The bias still needs to be checked when you change tubes just to be sure it's still in spec, it's not a cathode bias amp.

You probably have a bad resistor in your Phase Inverter circuit.

I had the same problem on a Hot Rod Deluxe it was R58 100Kohms.

Check R52 and R52 on your Blues Deluxe
