Rock On! Just got my Frontman 212 - Deal from Musicians Freaks. Anyway, very clean and lound.

---- Need help getting a good distortion sound, a nice fat saturated one with my Les Paul. Any pedal sugetions because I do not seem to get that 'sound' from the amp itself. Also have ext. reverb, chorus, delay, tube distorition (Digitech Hardwire), Eq (boss).

Cool, any sugestions?

Yea, thanks for reply. As I just got this, I am in the midst of a tweekarama. I have been getting carried away with clean and delay. Very cool good clean. But, yes, I have been trying the mid cut button. I have an EQ and have done 'scooping' with that. I have been getting closer and closer. I have a clean, yea easy, somewhat of a breaking distortion, I am still working on the full-on super saturated distortion. I can kind of get it at a higher volume but I am still trying to tweek it so I do not have to blast the room completely out, Oh, that might not be a bad thing anyway, I do like my own hearing thought.
Short answer, yea I tried that, I am using it. thanks....

I am having a BLAST with all the new tones, textures and sounds I am getting on this amp. I agree, for the price, dang, you can't beat it.

I have an fm212r I got a (zoom 505 peddel) I taped in to the speaker wires in the back put an extra jack in and am running through a 412 speaker cab. More then enought power to push all 6 of the 12 inch speakers. You got a good amp.

This is not a good thing to do. The solid states are usually made for one impedance- 8 ohms. Unless the amp comes with an additional speaker jack (meaning it is designed to handle the lower impedance) you run a major risk in overheating it and burning up the amp. Check your manual...I'll bet it says 8 ohms only. Just trying to save you the grief of a 'fried' amp. I don't know if it's any less of a potential problem if you wired it in series???

Use a pedal between the guitar and the amp. Opinions vary on which are best. But if your amp isn't getting it done for you, you could pony up about $40 and slap a BOSS DS-1 in the line and have varying degrees of distortion, however much you want to dial in. There's a billion other pedals that will do the job... some better, some cheaper. or both. I only have experience with the DS-1.

Thanks, I'll take a look at it. I have a digitech tube distortion pedal but I just can't get that 'sound' you know. I may just have to keep trying different things, different pedals. It is the elusive sound, I may have to just settle - No I will never surender!

I played around with my Frontman 25R last night and came up with this:

AMP:
Drive- 4
Treble- 5
Mid- 6
Bass- 7

Boss DS-1:
Tone- 11 o'clock
Level- 10 o'clock
Drive- 1 o'clock

Hope this helps!
(P.S. I don't know whether to use the mid-contour switch or not, the 25R doesn't have one.)

you have to match the impedance. Between the amp and the speakers. As long as the impedance is the same the solid state amps will handel it

Your statement: "you have to match the impedance. Between the amp and the speakers. As long as the impedance is the same the solid state amps will handel it" is absolutely correct, however, I believe that you have misinterpreted it. The impedance of the amp to be matched is 8 ohms, TOTAL. There is no way I can think of (other than an impedance matcher, i.e. Weber, and I'm not certain if they are recommended for solid state amps) to add additional speaker(s) and have the total speaker load = 8 ohms. A parallel connection will yield a lower impedance and a series connection will yield a higher impedance.

I am not posting this response to debate nor to be argumentative, just in hopes of preventing you the unpleasant experience of a failed amp. The additional heat generated by the amp may not lead to immediate catestrophic failure, but it will definately have a cumulative effect on the amps components. As always, check out what I and any other members post by consulting with a bona fide electronics technician that you might know.
