ok friends- i need your help.

after doing research, i have decided that my next amp is going to be a 65 watt fender. looking at websites, and ebay is well, there are more than a few to choose from. i have looked at the following:

frontman 65
fm65
princeton 65
princeton 650
and then there are the dsp models too.

the 650 model peaks my interest, but i am open to suggestions. if you own, or have owned these amps, let me know what you think. good, bad, or ugly, all info is welcomed

anybody- anybody- bueller?

I own a Princeton 650. It's been discontinued now for 4 yrs. or better. I love it's sound, versatility, portability, and it can get LOUD! They did not come with a footswitch, but I bought one for it: chnl select and effects on/off.

A close friend of mine immediately bought one after hearing mine. He was tired of carrying a 50+ lb. 2X12 around. The bad part is that mine has been back to the shop twice for repairs, both times on warranty. His has performed flawlessly. I have until this coming January left on the warranty, so here's hoping. Aside from the repair issues, it is a great "grab and go" Solid State amp at around 28# with all the volume and versatility you'll ever need.

If I was looking for a new 65 watt Solid State amp today, I'd go to a store that stocks a Fender FM65DSP and give it a try. From reading the description and specs., I think it is the closest, feature-wise, model in production (if it still is) to the Princeton 650. You can get it for $229 on-line now. That's considerably less than what the Princeton 650 sold for at closeout prices 4 yrs. ago ($300).

+1 on the Frontman 65R. It's basically a bigger version of my Frontman 25R, and these are great sounding, very well made amplifiers. They are very very very pedal-friendly, and the distortion on them is great, as well as the always stellar Fender reverb.
