not a bad selection. i run all boss through my heavy metal rig myself.
im trying to quiet things down a bit.
dont need all the aggressive tones with this rig.

The BJ loves pedals into it's front end. Shame it doesn't have a parallel effects loop for rverb delay and modulation pedals..

Anyway, I get fantastic results from the following 2 overdrives:

TC Electronics Vintage Overdrive (recently discontinued unfortunately). I kick that with a Blackstar Valve Booster for more saturation (solos etc).

Fulltone Full Drive 2 - simply an incredible overdrive and a built in booster stage too. Does the Tube Driver stuff too, but you can also cut the mids for a different overdrive tone. Vintage or modern tones are also selectable.

The only pedals I use into my BJ are a Way Huge Pork Loin and a Danelectro Cool Cat Drive. Both sound fantastic.

When I had my Blues Jr., I ran a TS9, Turbo Rat, Fulltone Soul Bender. Took them all well.

Well, I have a Gibson GA-5 as well, didn't think I needed 2 amps. Never was in love with the reverb. Had it 6 years and only lost $40 on it. Last week, 6 months after selling the BJ, I got a steal on a new Princeton Reverb reissue $600. There is no comparison, much better amp.

whats the big difference in your opinion about the two?
ive been also looking at a VOX AC30 in addition to the blues jr.
im looking for the jr as a compliment to my strat and my esquire
for blues playing only. havent played the princeton reissue yet.

Tube driven reverb, and has vibrato. I had just picked up a 52 hot rod tele to replace a tele I sold. Never intended to get another amp until I head the Princeton. There is a great demo on you tube with Jim Campilango. I would have sent link but am using my phone right now. Check it out. Where are you? There is another new Princeton for $600 at Ted Brown Music in Silverdale Washington. They may even ship it. Check their site and give them a call should you change your mind. If they don't have it, it will ve at one of the sister stores. Sale price is on Saturday.
