I returned my 57 champ after terrible "crackling" noise and feedback at 12 without the guitar plugged in. After a week of testing it out, I was very disappointed in the quality of the amp So I decided to order a Valve Train Tall Boy 205 with the 2 - 8 inch weber speakers. TOP OF THE LINE QUALITY.

Nice Nic. Really nice. Two Weber eights, 5 watts and a tone control too. Congrats!

Tweeds are a completely different animal. They're very dynamic meaning the harder you hit the strings the more distorted it becomes. It's not for everyone. Thing is, a few of the the 57 Champs I've tried have issues like buzzing baffles, and weird crackles shouldn't happen in an amp as simple as a 57 Champ especially at that price point. IMO, They should be perfect right out of the box.

The buzz - that is ONE of the reasons I returned it, for 1k I was hoping for better quality. This is what ValveTrain does to ensure against rattle, they use: "Micalex or Ceramic Tube sockets with retainers - rated at 10,000 insertions and no rattle." +1 supro, the 57 should be perfect right out of the box.
I'm hoping the ValveTrain Tall Boy 205 with 2 - 8 inch Weber's will be perfect right out of the box, if not, I'm going to drive it over to them. I already recieved an email from the owner (yes - the owner if you can believe it) of ValveTrain inviting me to visit the facility, since they are only an hour away.
I always wanted a 57, so I bought one and was hoping it was going to be great, well, I was not impressed (actually quite disappointed) after playing it for a week.

That's great Nic. I used to get personal emails from Bruce Egnater answering any questions I had. I think he's getting too big for that now. He does chime in from time to time on his Egnater forum to answer tech questions.

Just got my ValveTrain Tall Boy 205 with 2 - 8 inch Weber's, this amp is UNREAL, the tone is amazing.

Fender - you need to take lessons from these guys. This amp blows anything you make right out of the water.

ValveTrain quality is exceptional!!!!!
