Has anyone else had this issue? It seems I hear the springs hitting the tube causing a buzz on the lower strings.

May have misunderstood you, but the reverb springs are in the black box bolted to the bottom of the cabinet. It's nowhere near your tubes (valves) which hang down from the underside of the top chassis. They're never going to come into contact.

Fo any buzzing or vibration, check that the tubes are seated firmly into their sockets first of all. Then work methodically, using hand pressure to check for loose carpentry in the cabinet, loose panels, handles etc. Be very careful if you intend to touch the chassis (best not to!).

Also worth checking is the speaker lead, check it's not dragging over the speaker and vibrating there..

Sounds like a guitar issue to me. Pickups too high would be my guess.

yea i believe its due to the bass frequencies when you play the lower strings. the springs are rattling from the bassy vibrations. many many people have the same issue. you can google around for solutions. a good idea is slipping the springs inside some wire insulate. the heat from tubes will cause it to melt around them, making for a nice coating. dont do it though if you want to keep your warranty.

i have mounted the power tubes on a stack of rubber o-ring's in the holder tray. helps to dampen vibrations a bit and tube rattle. also, i use a stack of the rings to stretch the springs a little more. since they are more taut, the vibration decreased. although its just a minor improvement. cant stack more than 4 rings or they start sliding around and lose effectiveness.
you can also find some gaskets in a hardware store that would fit the tube diameter.
oh yeah, and the rubber = heat resistance

Thanks for the tips. Good to know. What are they for and what are they doing next to the tube anyway?

fenderplecre,

Could you post a sample in order to analyse your issue?
