Hey guys,

When i first got my Blues Jr I would have my reverb at about 5 or 6 and it ould be quite alot, but lately I have to have it full on (at 12) and it is really suptle. Is my reverb broken?

I have had it checked and all connections tested and they are fine - is my reverb tank broken? Anybody else experience this?

Thanks

AS87,

Does your BJr still under warranty?
If yes,
Go to the dealer and explain your conplain.
Otherwise,
The reverb signal is picked-up after the master volume and used a couple of op-amps and re-injected through a potentiomer (reverb) after R42 and C19 on the input of the dephaser of the power stage.

This is a very simple schematic.

Questions only if you have technical skills:
(If not: do not do that and contact a amplifier tech)
1. Do you have an issue with the master?
2. Open the amplifier and test the supplies +15 V and -15V, take care about high voltages (400V DC) it can causes people dommages even death!
3. Test another reverb unit (it 's just RCAs connected)
4. Test R51 potentiometer

The reverb units on BJs are notorious for breaking down - normally it's the very fine transducer wire in the reverb tank that's at fault. I'd expect the reverb not to be working at all though, if thats the case.

I gave up with mine after 2 failures, and now use an EHX Holy Grail Plus. Much better all round. The stock reverb in the BJ isn't valve driven and it's hardly a great sound even when it's working..

I've replaced a couple of reverb tanks, when I add a few B. Jrs. easy to replace, tanks are about $25.00.

I had to replace mine twice. Make sure you get a 3 spring tank largely out of a need to expidite the repair quickly and I couldn't wait until they brought one it for me. It's my first experience with a 2 spring tank. It's also going to be my last. 2 spring tanks are lame.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
