Wow, that actually makes me want to learn how to make those things.

But if you think about it, if you took these, made them you could fair sell them at a bit of a higher price and make some money....

Perhaps......if the market were currently pre-disposed to favoring start-up companies.

Psst......wanna make a small fortune in the guitar amp business?

Start with a large fortune!

Seems pretty cool to me. Thank you TTSC, I was wondering about the components. I believe the Mojo's are built by Heyboer, a good transformer. Thanks, Supro ! Art

I've got a 5E3 Tweed Deluxe kit from Tube Depot heading my way now, seems like a really well thought out kit and the documentation is done very well also.

Great value at the moment with the Aussie Dollar level pegging the US Greenback.

Thanks for the heads-up on this kit Supro.

No Problem, It's nice to have affordable alternatives. The 5e3 clone kits are great. You can always go to Mouser Electronics or any electronic part supply house and upgrade any caps or resistors if you feel it necessary. Like I said before, I don't care whose name is on the front of an amp as long as it does what you want it to do. I've built stuff for friends that worked out well. I've built a 5f1 and a 5e3. The Tube Depot kit seems really nicely done and well laid out. They also have videos as well as great instructions. I've been building stuff since the Heathkit days LOL. I built a Heathkit Oscilloscope for a teacher while I was in high school. Stuff back then was actually point to point, no boards just terminal strips.

Have fun!

Yeah, I checked out the video and also downloaded the instruction booklet PDF and they have gone to great lengths to explain every step well.

The guys at the Tube Depot were great to deal with and already threw in an upgraded Cathode resister for the power tubes (Ohmite "Brown Devil" 8W). I'm not sure of the why's and wherefores of swapping that with the kit supplied one, but it was one of those small gestures that I appreciate.

Once it turns up I'm thinking of starting a "build thread" for my amp on here, taking my time and documenting the build as I go with pics and discussion as I go, I think that would be fun and helpful for others on the forum as well as myself.

I'm not sure how that will sit with the forum "Powers That Be" since it's not "Fender" related, but I guess they can always shut the thread down if it's an issue.

At least it's not another how to fix a HRD /Blues Jr thread.
I have no problem with educational stuff. It may even help others troubleshoot their own amps and learn something in the process. Besides, these things sound great with Strats and Teles. It's a shame Fender doesn't sell amp kits. Even Martin sells guitar kits. Allen amps sell both kit and assembled amps. Great amps by the way.

Aw just put a set of "gin-you-whine" Fender knobs on it.

Then it'll be "Fender related".

I would recommend going here http://music-electronics-forum.com/content/ to do your build thread. If you go to guitar amps>build your amp>tweed amps>5E3, that's where you want to be.

I'm sure lot's of guys here would like to see the process. I think this would be a good place for it. There was a great thread a ways back about repairing a badly damaged Strat. Great info with a lot of photos.

Ha! Heathkit..geez haven't heard that name in years.
Built a VTVM from Heathkit as well as a Star Roamer SW Radio. Almost bought the Color TV kit too.

Hmmm been thinking about buying a DRRI too. How do I know which type of Amp kit would match a particular Fender Amp for tone?
