Hi all,

I am looking into buying a either a super champ xd or vibro champ xd. My main purpose is to have a small practice amp that I can play while my wife and baby are sleeping - thus the need for a headphone jack. My Peavey Classic 50 is just way too loud. I want something small with built-in effects and tones so that I don't need to use my pedals at all. Anyways, the main deterrent for me from buying the vibro champ is the lack of a headphone jack. I know it has a line-out, but I'm pretty sure you can't just plug headphones in it and use them that way, unless I'm wrong. Does anyone know of any way? Does Radio Shack or some place sell some kind of device that can act as a headphone jack? I really want this amp, but it lacks this essential feature for me. Any help is greatly appreciated.

No, there is no way to hook up headphones to either amp, but ...
There was a thread here not long ago that dealt with this.
Someone provided this link for headphne tap:

Hope that helps.
BTW, I don't know about theVibro-Champ, but I have the SCXD, and I can't recommend it enough. Great amp.

I have heard of very small low-wattage tube amps with a headphone jack. But, IMO, for extremely low volume and/or headphone use it really isn't worth the cost. A small solid-state amp with a headphone jack would be better; maybe even a small digital modeling amp if the price is right. Maybe a modeling multi-fx pedal would work for you... they normally have a headphone jack. I've been using a POD for headphone practice, and if I don't want to use the headphones I can run it through my home stereo and adjust the volume for the situation.

The only viable option I can think of is to get a 4ohm dummy load box to plug the speaker out into. Then plug the earphones into the line out.

You could build the dummyload box.

House this

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=019-025 in a old effects pedal and wire the two wires to one of the input/output jacks.

Thats the cheapest easiest option I can imagine on the fly. You'd need to check that out with someone with more technical know how than I. Also you'd need to check the line out of the amp will send to your phones.
I think you'd be better off just buying a vox amplug or a fender/marshall 1watt amp. They all have headphone jacks. You could save the vibrochamp for when everyone is out the house.
