Here she be. Properly wired and grounded. Tested, and working. One custom made, brand new, Steampunk amplifier. Based on the Fender Frontman 15. Amp was purchased new, and rebuilt using all the original parts, in original configuration. Including the original speaker wires, grounding tape, etc. This amp is just as functional as when I picked it up off the shelf at Tom Lee Music.

The case is black walnut. The speaker supports are honduran mahogany and brass plated pipe. The speaker frame is black walnut. All bolts are various length brass. Reclaimed, repurposed, re-awesomed.

I worked hard to get this ready for an upcoming convention and I hope if you find my blog, or see this amp, that you like it! Its important to put a little magic back into the everyday as my lovely lady friend says. Anyways, just something a little different for the 'ol Fender forums...

So, here it is. Cheers!

OMG!

Hello and Welcome!

That is Awesome! or should I say "Re-awesomed" (great word!)! I know $@!& all about amps but i do know enough about carpentry to appreciate what a fine job you've done there. Very impressive!

How does is sound? What guitar have you got?

Thanks for sharing (Its really awesome!)

Enjoy!

Andy

Thanks for the kind words!

It sounds good actually! Arguably better than before! No tolex housing and crappy fiberboard, no mesh grating over the front, fully open back. Its still a tiny little practice amp, but it sounds pretty good overall.

I have a USA Fender Telecaster '02 as my primary electric.

I also build guitars; amateur luthier. This amp was built to match a lap steel that I made actually.

Well you can't just tease us with talk of a hand built lap steel. We need pic's man! :D

I have to say I was curious as to how it would sound without the cab. Glad its sounds almost as good as it looks!

I too like to build guitars. I haven't made my own neck yet, but once I've cleared a few projects I'll be giving it a go.

Enjoy!

Andy

I dont have pics of the standard electrics that I have made handy, I kind of skipped over that stuff and the lap steel just because its Fender forums or whatever, didn't want to post if it wasnt a Fender! lol But since you asked, here's two pics.

Stunning, very cool, thanks for sharing steampunk. I think that you watch too much science fiction. :) Thanks again for posting this. :)

Wow!

Steampunk, that lap steel looks the business! very nice indeed. :D

Also a very interesting and apt forum name. "Steam-punk" being a relatively new movement (I think) in making modern equipment look like its been made in a 19th century Victorian style. Very Jules Verne and very very cool!

I for one will be keeping an eye out for your future posts!

Thanks for the pics!

Andy
