Just sold my Vox DA20(nice amp but getting tired of pure digital stuff and sounds) and I am narrowing my amp search down to these two. I played them both today at my local GC and I cannot really decide. I like the idea of the attenuator and reverb on the Bugera and it is cheaper, can buy a pedal or two if I need more options. Then the Vibrochamp has all the effects and amp models so don't really have to buy anything else. Are the higher gain amp models digital sounding like the Line6's or the Vox DA's? With the Bugera, I can experiment with pedals to find what I like. On the Fender, are the tubes just a gimmick if it has digital amp models and a solid state rectifier? I think I am leaning toward the Bugera and a pedal or two unless someone can enlighten me any further.

Bugera amps aren't known for their quality or longevity. I killed one on the showroom floor and all the magic smoke came out. I wasn't even pushing it that hard.

That said, there's a few of us that have the Bugera V5 and like it a lot for what it is. It's a budget amp that will get you some decent sounds for not a lot of money. I use mine almost every day and couldn't be happier with it's performance these past 5 months. 8)

I actually decided and came home with the Vibrochamp XD today. I played both of them extensively in GC today on my lunch hour, and although I liked the sound coming out of the Bugera, The Fender just sounds more pleasing to my ears. I am an old metalhead from the 80's, but as I creep into my 40's, I find myself liking to play cleaner with a touch of 'verb or delay as opposed to fullbore gain!!. I felt that the Bugera just does not have that Fender sparkle, like channel 1 on the VCXD that I am loving at the present moment. I know that this amp is still considered a modeller, but what is the difference of this class "a" tube amp with voiced preamps as opposed to a pure tube amp with pedals in front? Same thing in my book. I am very happy with my purchase. Also if I want to gain out with some Metallica riffs or what not, the VCXD has some really good sounding high gain channels. I will never go back to all digital!!Tubes, Baby!!!!
