Just purchased a Super Champ XD and so far have been unable to locate a footswitch for this amp from local dealers. Does anyone have any info on the right footswitch and where one can be purchased?

According to the specs of the Super Champ XD - this is the correct switch -
http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0071359000

A dealer should be able to order it from Fender.

I don't see it available at any on-line merchants. It is also used by the Fender FM 65 DSP amp.

Hope that helps.

There’s a lot more confusion and perhaps ‘mistique’ involving the Fender foot switches than actually exists. Fender does use a unique means of switching, incorporating voltage changes through the use of diodes. Why they have done it this way I’m not sure, but it does allow for the use of one pair of wires rather than multiples as in other manufacturers’ design.

Anyway, Fender two-button switches are much more functionally interchangeable than most people realize. I own a Princeton 650 and a Blues Deluxe Reissue, and a friend of mine owns a Princeton 650 and a Princeton Chorus (I think that’s the model’s name). We discovered that the footswitches all interchange functionally. The difference is in the cover plate labels: Princeton 650 says Channel Select and Effects; the Blues Deluxe Reissue says Channel Select and Reverb; and the Princeton Chorus(?) says Channel Select and Chorus.

So, if you are not bothered by a techniqually incorrect label, the options for finding a footswitch quickly for the Super Champ XD may exist. If you know someone with a two button switch, borrow it and see if it functions.

The best common candidates are the Frontman 100 watt 212DSP , and the 65 watt 1X12 DSP which actually will have the proper lettering since they channel select and turn on/off effects. Now I cannot say for absolutely sure this will work, so don’t purchase one, but if you can borrow one to try, I think it will work.

This may help those who have a new Super Champ XD and are anxious to try it live and need remote switching right now!

Try this one:
http://www.elderly.com/accessories/name ... -FFS18.htm
A little pricey @ $39.99 plus shipping, but when in a hurry, an extra $10 may not matter to you.

Thanks for the info. That looks like that is the one to work with the Super Champ XD. That was about the only site I didn't look at. Thanks again.

Hi Folks,

The footswitch you seek is 007-1359-000, optional 2-button Channel/FX footswitch. Any authorized Fender amp or accessory dealer can order it for you if they don't stock it.

We offer a bunch of footswitches on the Fender online store; I'll see if we are going to add this model.

The reason we began using this type of footswitch technology, years ago, is this: You can use any length of cable that you want, and if you lose or break your footswitch cable, you can substitute a normal mono cord without having to search for something unique.

Thanks and enjoy.

Hey Shane,
Thanks for the insight on the "why" Fender developed their unique footswitching technology. I hadn't thought of that, but it's a very good reason that might get one through an emergency some day!

You are welcome!

By the way, I just talked to our Fender Online Store guy, and he will put the new footswitch up on there for sale in the next couple of days.

Thanks,
Shane

I just ordered one locally, and the guy said we'd see that footswitch, realistically, in MARCH!!! At least I'm first on the list.
