Definitely think the DRRI would be a good pick. I really like the Fender 57 champ for it's tone, looks and collect ability. I love the amp power select setting on the rebel and it's features. Guess I need to demo and research. BTW here is a picture of my Eric Clapton with my custom pick guard (this was a gift for my Navy retirement, thus the Navy theme) and knobs.

Very nice axe. There are alot of good choices out there .The dilemma is always having one to play at home and being able to gig with it.The tolerance for volume at the homestead varies from person to person.I have lived in an apartment and know how that works, but now I am back to living in a house with neighbors who dont care so I can play anything at home and I use my drri for gigs and rehearsals. Occasionally I use my blues jr at rehearsals if I dont feel like carrying my drri.I seriously looked at the egnater (which is a really good amp) ,but since I am not much of a knob turner ,I opted for the drri and couldnt be happier.

I bought my amp. I was in GC on Saturday, in the used amp section there was brand new looking DRRI for 699. Only thing wrong with it was the light jewel was missing. I wasn't going to get it but as I was playing the sells guy said he woud give 10% off and an extended warranty. Sold. Ordered a jewel on ebay for 8 bucks. Played it all weekend, love it. Thanks for all the advice...

It's been said that you could always tell a Naval Aviator -- you just couldn't tell him much.

You made a wise choice, rust-picker!

And enjoy that amp!

Actually sir, it's "Army". With 19½ years of USAF tacked on as an afterthought.

But don't go "high PRF" on me for it.

And I meant what I said about enjoying your new amp.

The Princeton RI is a great amp, too. Almost as loud as the DRRI, but not as much clean headroom, unless you use the low-input.

The Vox AC15CC might be what you're looking for. I love my AC30CC2, but it is LOUD.

I used a Peavey Classic 30 for several years, they are loud, too; in my opinion, the Classic 30 sounds fizzy at low "bedroom" volume levels. But loud, the Classic 30 sings.

The Princeton and DRRIs never sound fizzy. But neither will give you saturated distortion at bedroom levels.
