Hi all this is my first post here

I am having problems with the volume on my MH-550, i dont know if it is my ears or the amp its self, when playing the amp with =out the rest of the band the amp is loud as hell, as soon as the band kicks in the amp seem to fade into the background and i seem to have to have the amp turn almost to max now i am playing through half stack at 400 watts and still fighting for volume is anybody out there having the same problems and if so can some one please offer up some suggestions will be greatly apprechiated.

How about try EQ'ing your amp differently to fit a frequency area that isn't occupied by the rest of the band.

metropolis is correct. You would be surprised how much frequencies can cancel out or be masked. I play a humbucker guitar and eq mine to fit in the midrange area of my band just for this reason. Try increasing your treble and lowering the bass and mids. It may not sound great by itself but will mix better with the band.

Does your band have a keyboard player? If so, he/she may need to not play the left hand parts.

Try putting a BBE sonic maximizer in front of it.

(the rack mount, not stompbox)

If you're scooping the mids you'll have a hard time cutting the mix especially if you use a lot of gain..
