Every time I plug a pedal into my Fender Frontman 212 DSP, it screams. How do I fix this?

Check your volume controls. Any more info, like type of pedal, guitar, cords etc?

The pedal I put in is a cheap First Act distortion pedal. And it's not the volume, because even when I turn it down it still screams. It's not just feedback. It's pretty weird. I might be stupid for doing this, but I'm just using regular guitar cables to plug it in. And my guitar is a Squier Strat.

It sounds to me like its just a bad pedal or maybe a cord. If its possible I would try the pedal on a different amp and also try different cords. That way you can narrow it down to either the pedal or the amp. But my guess would be the pedal is the culprit if the amp is fine when its not plugged in. Oh and by the way are you using a power supply on the pedal or battery. If its a battery you might want to check that and make sure its not about dead. I have had experience with weird feedback like sound from a wireless mic when the batt. is about to die.

Are you using batteries in the box or a power supply? If it's a battery, you might try changing it with a fresh one. You're supposed to use regular cables. Be sure the cables are okay. This might be a stupid question, is your guitar okay without the box?
