I thought about doing this myself until I saw a previous topic here on issues with tubes breaking when rolling the amp around.

I bought some wheels from Home Depot. Two go in one direction two spin for turning. I was going to screw them in to the bottom of the amp through the wood. This is my first big amp so I'm not sure what to do here.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If you go too close to the outer edges of the amp you could crack or break the bottom panel. If you go in too far you'll hit the reverb tank. I'd pull the tank and run the bolts down through the casters from inside the amp or better yet get a small polyurethane dolly ($33)or hand truck ($50 and up)from Sears or any other do-it-yourself store.

Thanks for the reply. That's good to know. I think I'll just spend the money on one of those amp cases with wheels that latch shut. Rather be safe than sorry.

That's your best bet. I'm in the market for one for my DeVille too. Very pricy but worth it I'm sure. I'm looking at having a matching cab built and if I do I'm not sure I'd find a case to fit.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

this is a great EWI case from Audiopile for $190 that will protect it and rolls on premium 4" wheels.

I have 2 mic cases from them as well as all my mic cables and they are better than most stuff. Plus Mark and Liz are great people.

You can go to Lowes and get a trolley for $30. Head over to their pipe department and get a length of copper pipe insulation for $3 to wrap around the uprights and pad the bottom. Another $2 will get you a pair of bungee cords.

Mate I have the same amp...I have found from experience that when you start carting tube amps on Caster Wheels on the amp direct or on a road case with the amp enclosed within, the amps are pretty prone to dropping tubes and other things on the amp over time start working loose.

I know it hurts, but I either carry it or ask someone to help me from time to time.

If there is a better answer from any seasoned muso's that have used road cases please assist.

Cheers and Good Luck...
