I just replaced all the tubes in a Hotrod Deville but when I turn it on and look at the back of the amp the first power tube on the left looks like it is not powering up, I switched power tubes to see if it was a bad tube but it does the same thing, I looked at the solder connections and one seemed cold so I soldered it but that was not it,
any suggestions where to look for the problem first.

The amp works but probably at half power, help !

THANKS !

What you need to do is watch the solder joints very closely while wiggling the power tube. Look at the 5 watt power resistors too for heat damage. My HRDlx did the same exact thing. I dumped mine. It spent a lot of time in the shop. All for different issues due to poor design, cheap components and really thin single sided circuit boards. It was a decent sounding poorly built amp.

Thanks, I'll double check solder joints.

I will take it to a pro if I can't find any obvious problems.

I'll do some basic TP checks and see if I can find a problem, just hoping it's something simple.

If anyone else has seen this problem I'd appreciate your input.
