Anybody out there play their electric solid body or semi-hollow through and Acoustasonic? I have my Acoustasonic SFX II on the ship I work on, so I end up playing a MIM Strat through it all the time. I didn't think it sounded that good at first but then I just started cranking it up and got some cool tones.

My main amp is a Mesa/Boogie, but I was wondering if anyone uses an Acoustasonic in this way as their main amp for tone or convenience reasons.

If you like what you hear, go for it... however, a few points:

an acoustic amp is more like a modern bass amp: wider frequency range, horn tweeter, different EQ controls. If you're playing mostly clean stuff, it should be alright, but distortion thru a horn on a guitar cabinet can be a nasty thing. Some acoustic amps have several different inputs, 1 for acoustic, 1 for magnetic/electric and possibly a 3rd for a microphone... try both guitar inputs if you have em...

I never put it thru the line in channel. I wasn't sure if it would be impedence matched. I'll give it a try this afternoon.

It's does sound pretty cool considering the other amp we have in the shop is a little Pignose. The tone is nothing like my Boogie but I don't feel comfortable bringing the Lone Star onboard the ship. Things have a habit of getting busted up while out to sea.

Nope... probably won't work thru the line in channel, unless you're using a processor that has a line out jack... impedance and level would be way to low coming straight off the guitar or even most stomp boxes.

It sure didn't work. I hope I didn't put the circuit in any danger by trying it out. It was only for a minute or so. Nothing to really note other than it was way too quiet.
