$200 for an amp !!!

You should put more money on an amp than a guitar.

Good guitar + cheap amp= poor soud

Cheap guitar + good amp= better sound

Good guittar +good amp = the heaven, nirvana, pleasure etc

Really sound advice.A cheap amp makes a 2k guitar sound like a toy guitar.

Like others have suggested I would probably wait until I had more saved. However if you really want an amp now and a Fender, I would look at the Vibro Chamo, Champion 600, or the solid state Frontman 65R. For a solid state amp the Frontman 65R has very good tone and reviews. Good luck.

As much as I love tube amps, I go with the Frontman 65 before either the Vibro Champ or 600.

For that price I would recomend either a fender superchamp xd or a Line 6 spider 4. If you want versitality then get the line 6 but if you want good clean sound then go for the fender. I recentley got a line 6 spider 4 (I am also a vaguely new player about 1 and a half years) 15 watt 8 inch and I love it. Let us know what you get!

Everyone has there own opinion on amps I like the fm212 I think it sounds great with the volume set low or high and it has the power if you need it. You can check ebay and find a good used 1 for around $250

Current production low end tube amps IMO aren't worth the money. They're cheap for a reason. Low quality components, design and workmanship. I agree in your price range a SS amp would be your best bet. Just because an amp uses tubes doesn't make it a great tube tone amp. The manufacturers use terms like "pure tube tone" and "class A amp" as a marketing tool. If an amp has built in effects in the circuit, it does not have "pure tube tone".

I somewhat agree with you Supro. If all you have to spend is 500 bills and you dont want to risk buying used, then a blues jr makes sense, especially if you arent gigging and just going to jams .In that price range there isnt much ,but you could do worse IMHO.Sure these HR sreies and low budget amps have some reliability problems,it depends on how much it gets jostled around. It is the best to save up and get something like a drri, but if money is an issue or you dont gig ,1k for a drri is a dream.Unfortunately at todays prices,499 (and especially 200) doesnt go very far.You cant drink champagne on a beer budget.

For not much more you can get a new Egnater Tweaker. Serious amp for the money.
