Hello,

I own an Acoustasonic™ 30 DSP amp for my current A/E guitar but I'm about to pickup a Gibson SG and I was wondering how this electric guitar will sound/work on this amp. Will it be okay or will it sound like crap? I probably can't afford a new amp right now too so I was just looking for some more insight. If anyone out there has used electric guitars on this amp I would like your feedback too.

Thanks in advance everyone.

I use to own one. I traded it in on a Night Train. I needed a tube amp more than an acoustic :P

The 'Sunic makes a good electric amp. I found it sounds best when the amp is dimed. Its not high gain. The tone is somewhat like a Champ with medium gain.

The are a few you tubes of the 'Sonic being used for guitar.

Interesting ! I'll try to remember to take the Strat to work and give it a go. The fiddle player uses that Acoustic Sonic Jr. (sp) Art

All right. Thanks guys. I was just making sure that I wasn't going to blow my amp up or anything. Mostly worried that the amp, not being an electric guitar amp, couldn't handle the signal. I am clearly ignorant about the electronics involved in these things...

Yeah, tried the Acoustasonic JR. with the Strat, it sounded great and plenty full. This amp is about 7 or 8 yrs old, used by an electric fiddle player. Should be a fine sub until you get a dedicated electric guitar amp. Art

Cool. Yeah the problem is that there is no distortion at all with this amp. It's so clean! Can I fix this with a pedal? If so, any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I own an Acoustasonic 30 DSP also and use a Telecoustic Deluxe through it which has a Tele pick-up fitted that you can blend with the Fishman and I've had no problem sound-wise in using the Tele pup only. It sounds very nice.

Also until recently I thought it would sound terrible just an electric guitar but my friend used his Tele through it for a jamming session and it sounded great too.

Y142, can't help you out with the pedal question(and I'm not sure how hard I'd try too push this amp into the distortion realm), but maybe Knotty or Celtic can give us more first-hand info from their experience. Welcome to the forum, y142. Hey Celtic, how do like that guitar? Art

I wouldn't really send this amp into dist realm. It's pushing it IMO to even be using it long term with an electric, depending on how hot the pups are, as it is first and foremost an acoustic amp. It sounds great like I said but I wouldn't over-do it, then again I know little about the speakers in them so maybe someone who knows more about them technically can help.

I love the Telecoustic Deluxe, it's discontinued now. Paired with that amp it suits me fine for my acoustic songs live. I use the line-out to the desk and have the amp, as it's wedged shaped as my monitor. The guitar is great and with a y cable I can use it through the Acoustasonic and my DeVille at the same time which is interesting but I tend not to.

The action is to die for and I can pull solos just like on a Tele. It came with electric strings but I use ultra-lite acoustic strings and keep the G unwound. I can really dig in to it and it sounds very sweet. Unplugged with it being so thin it's almost mandolin like and then sounds like a beast through the amp. Great guitar and very happy I snapped one up a few months before they died out.

Cheers aclempoppi,

CC

Thanks for all the advice guys (and the warm welcome aclem). Well I guess I'll have to watch myself then when using this amp with my SG. I tried a Pod hooked up to the Acoustasonic and the SG and it sounded pretty good though. I wish I could afford another amp right now but I wiped myself out with this purchase. When the time come, any advice on a small, respectable, and affordable electric amp?

Thanks so much guys. It's very nice to see an active and helpful community out here.

Not a problem and where are my manners?!?! Welcome to the fender.com forum. It's the greatest on the web and I hope you stick around long enough to see that!

Happy playing!
