I finally decided to hang up the the SCXD. Its a great little amp, but I've only been using it for the clean channel with pedals. I've also been using an external 1x12 speaker cab as well. I was never a fan of the stock 10" speaker. Every time I go to practice, I need to bring the amp and the cab. So I decided to sell it on craig's list.

I got a response on craig's list. This guy was looking to downgrade his Blues Jr. for a quieter amp due to living in an apartment. Both our amps were purchased a little over a year ago. So he's willing to trade his amp for mine with an additional $50. Not to mention I'll also be including the footswitch and he doesn't have one. I still think this is a pretty good trade. I've been looking for an inexpensive tube amp for a while. And I'll only be spending $50 out of pocket.

I'm pretty excited about this. I'll be meeting him tomorrow. I just wanted to know what some of you guys think about this. I know there are some people on here that pretty much hate the Hotrod Series, but I'm willing to take a chance on this one.

I am one of those that is not a fan of the Hot Rod series, but we opened for a Stones tribute band last year and one of the guitarists Twin was out of commissioin and the back up they used was a Blues Junior. I got to ask him about it and it was completely stock. I liked his sound better than the other guitarist using a Twin. So I would consider this a great trade and I use an SCXD for gigging. Same as you, using channel one with pedals and I am perfectly happy.

So, go for it, the BJ is a great amp to mod if you don't care for it the way it is.

I'd trade for a DRRI. More reliable, better sounding and built way better.

The first time I played through a Blues Jr. I bought it,Iwasn't even looking for an amp,I was trying out guitars and I already had 9 amps but the Blues Jr. impressed me so much that I bought it anyway and that's the only amp I've used since.

The DRRI is a great sounding amp. I have a 59 Bassman, not original but a 1990 RI and it is great also just to loud for home. I bought the SCXD about a year ago. Its alright just not for me I would only use the clean channel so Its gotta go. I also have a Twin Red knob which shakes the whol house. I might sell the twin also.

I say go for it mate, the Blues Junior is a great little amp, if it's what you want then go for it.

Literally tens of thousands of BJ's are out in the world doing just fine for their owners. If you get the input jack replaced with a Switchcraft one and have the bias resister changed or add an adjustable bias to cool it down a bit as per Billm's wesite, those 2 things will go a long way to preventing future problems.

Cheers,

Snowy

I have a chance to do the same thing and I was looking for a little feedback if you've made the deal already.

Don't let personal vendettas or needless vitriol sway you from a good decision. The Blues Junior is a fantastic amplifier, and ought to serve you well. In fact, don't even consider it "taking a chance." Think of this as a great trade.
