So I just got a Fender Deville 212. 15 years old. Has mesa boogie tubes in it with Celestion vintage 30 speakers in it. Call me Mr. Obvious, but it makes my old Line 6 Spyder amp seem like a child's toy. It's awesome.

Anyway, I was thinking of getting an extension cabinet for it. I saw that Avatar makes reasonably priced ones. I was thinking of getting a 4x10 cabinet. Anyone have thoughts on mixing 2 12's with 4 10's? Do they work well together or just sound muddy or mismatched? Would it be better to get another 2 12's?

Thanks.

Avatar, Mojo or Lopo, all are great cabinets.
Mixing the speaker sizes isn't an issue & I'd imagine the 4 10s would really sparkle up your sound but whatever combo you go with, be sure to match the impedance recommended.
The Deluxe (1-12") calls for an 8ohm extension speaker, not sure about the 2-12".
A 4-10 extension should sound "Super" ! (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

celestion gold 10, possibly the best guitar speaker yet! Especially if you love to hear the details, three dimensional reverb etc. Expensive though!

I sometimes run an old Ampeg 2 x 12 cab (V-30's) under my 4 x 10 DeVille for depth..
I myself like the tone..
I did come across an old 4 x 10 Marshall though that works well though too..
When you want to spank the walls with a pretty bright sound.. :)
My wife really dont care for it much though..
I have never been able to teach her not to put little glass things on shelves without coasters under them.. :(
It Will Make Things Dance. ;)

I'd look at getting a closed back vs. an open back extension cabinet, as you already have a great open 2x12 cabinet. Closed vs. open yield tremendously different results, and open up options for you.

On 4x10 vs. 2x12 vs. 1x15 - depends on what you think you're missing and hope to get with the extension cabinet. Since your amp is already very, very loud, I'd look at it as more tonal flexibility, since ideally you could run your amp:

1. by itself
2. with the extension cab
3. amp with internal speakers disconnected and running just the extension cab.

Speakers will also be critical. I wouldn't cheap out here - Weber, Eminence, Scumback and Celestion all make great 10's, 12's and 15's.

Where you can, I'd bring your amp to stores that have closed back extension cabs and try them out to see what you like before ordering from Avatar. Even if they just have a RI bassman, with some clever wiring you can try it out as an extension cab.

Good luck.
