Hey there,
here's a question for you guys:

How do you power on your Twin Reverb on and off?
first power, wait minute or two, hit standby on?
and same goes for turning it off, first standby off or power off and then standby?

This hasn't been explained in manual, so it may not matter but I better be sure to be on the safe side.

Thanks :D

I turn the power on and a few minutes later the standby and Im playing. If Im going to take a short break I put it in standby to keep the tubes warm and back on when ready. When I know Im done playing I put it in standby and then kill the power..

so claryfing here,

once power is on, you're switching standby to on(few minutes later),
when you say you're done playing you're turning standby off and then switching power off?

I'm asking because somebody said you're not supposed to switch standby to off before turning power off.

But I've heard that some people do exactly that(once done playing, standby set to off, and then power off).

Does it really matter? On all my amps I've always just hit both switches at the same time, unless I'm taking a short break and want to leave it on stand by.

I guess I usually try to turn the power on, wait, then flip the standby, and play. And then the reverse for powering down. However, I've flipped them both on or off in tandem countless times over the years and have never had a problem. Mine's about 4 years old now and still works like a charm.

I just bought a Deluxe Reverb and asked the sales manager at Sam Ash the same question. His advice was turn on the amp with the standby on, wait several minutes turn the standby off and play. This warms the tubes up for optimal sound. When your finished turn the standby on for several minutes before turning the amp off. This lets the tubes cool down slowly. By the way I asked a sales representative at Guitar Center the same question and got the same answer. I trust both of these men because they have been in the business for a lot of years. Hope this info helps.

cool, is it wise to switch those standby buttons back and forth while power is on?

how long have you had your deluxe reverb?

When you take a break you are suppose to put the amp on standby. When I am going to play, I turn on the amp and set up my guitar that is enough time for the amp to warm up. When I finish I put the amp on standby and clean the guitar(s) I have used and put them away. Then I turn the amp off. I usually wait at least an hour before I put the cover back on the amp. I purchased my Deluxe Reverb amp about ten day ago and a Fender Deluxe 1x12 cabinet this past Friday. I am totally happy with my purchase. It is the best amp I have ever owned. I am sure you will have the same opinion with your amp.

I assume when you're changing your guitar, you don't have to turn entire amp off, just hit standby, change guitar, standby to on position and you're on the clear,
correct?

That is one way you can change guitars. I simply first remove/unplug the chord from the amp, remove the chord from one guitar, plug into another guitar and then put the chord back into the amp. I put the amp on standby if I am taking a break from playing, or getting ready to stop playing.

What about just unplugging the chord from one guitar and plugging it into the other one? You might make some ugly noise in the process, but can it actually damage the amp?

Power On

Stand By On once tubes are warm

Stand By Off

Power Off

Best way to take care of any tube amp is to do it right.

Think of it like your PS3 or TV. Power then stand by etc.

When the amp is off both switches are down. To turn on the amp I pull the power switch up. Then I plug in the guitar, get settled, tune up, etc. By the time I've done that a minute or so has gone by. Then I pull up the Standby switch and I'm ready to play. When turning off the amp I don't feel that it matters what order you flip the two switches, as long as you do them both. I usually hit both at the same time. To switch guitars you can put the amp in Standby, or you can just turn down the volume control on the amp.
