I just received my Fender Super Champ XD. I needed a 'travel amp' that I could bring aboard a bus. Right out of the box it's more than I hoped for. The sound certainly outweighs the cost of this 24 lb. baby. I am always looking for the best sound that I can coax out of any new gear I am fortunate enough to own. Besides a Weber A I am, going to re tube the amp. Since the amp has a tremendous amount of treble, I am searching for a tube compliment that may provide slightly less edge. Maybe someone out there has done some trial & error with this and knows a few things. I am open to anyone's opinion or suggestions regarding tubes that are mid rangy and not real high frequency orientated. Thank You.

You don't have to buy from these guys, but these Power tubes are really big and excellent sound:

I put in one of these, and really like the tone (tried a Tung Sol and it was an ice pick):

Thanks for the links to The Tube Depot and their JJ's. I see that The Tube Depot has updated their website. Actually I am going to try those first. I was going to use JJ's because of past good experiences with them.

Thank you for an interesting tube source. I'm sure that I'll try his set. It's just a 3 tube set and they are useful to have extras of. One of those foam lined tube carriers is probably a good idea too. Happy times.
