guitslinger, I have one of the black metal Guvnor pedals and yeah they have a great sound. I think I bought it about 20 years ago, still got the box it came in.

I remember why I bought it way back then, it was right about the time I found out Gary Moore used that pedal all over his then newly released "Still Got the Blues" album.

Cheers,

Snowy

Now to high jack my own string :)

I tried the DRRI and the BDRI and for me the BDRI was a better choice. I prefer the bluesier, slightly overdriven sound but that is what I was looking for at this time. To each his own. I like the DRRI as well.

I need some help, i can't find a good overdrive to matc with my blues deluxe
I own a me 50 COUPLED WITH A TS9 which enables me to play good bonamassa the great flood but when I WANT to get a lead sound with dynamic the ts9 AND BB2 don't satisfy me
I listen to ocd fultone , too shrill and other overdrive on ututbe , i hesitated betwenn XOTIC BB+ AND MOSFET FULLTONE 2 BUT FOUND it colored too much
I would like to have paul personne lead sound (go to utube ans listen paul personne best ever played solo of VISIONS)
my blues deluxe overdrive sound lazcks of dynamic and you must keep it low otherwise it's ugly
this is the only default of this amp

I noticed your question about overdrive and I have been working on an overdrive pedal with NO TRANSISTORS for about 2 years. I gleaned some of the circuit from the TS808 but eliminated the transistor buffers and simplified the tone circuit. This overdrive is absolutely the cleanest and I use it with a Fender SuperSonic and Marshall MKII 50w heads. The only word I can use to describe the way this pedal sounds is like a creamy amp with some compression cranked. It works great to tighten up and thicken a clean tone and puts overdrive into turbo mode. It doesn't distort uless I do the 500k pot mod. Mesa land if you want it. I am not selling them but if you look on the internet you may find something similar. I suggest you get the most transparent and clean sounding pedal when played through a bassman or something similar with not to much highs. One other thing with fender amps is if you are playing live you need to cut the highs to like 4 to smooth out the tone. Try turning down your treble control and adding some mids and gain to get some hair. I played last night to 1000 people with a 1x12 supersonic 60w with an Avatar Contemporary 2x12 and we played stuff like I need to know by petty and the tone was spot on. The less distortion and the more cream is key. You want wooly hair with clairity and punch. Turn down the treble and you will be surprised. I do this on my marshalls also. I always used to wonder why my amps sounded so good at home but on stage they were painfully loud. Treble cut and a pure, transparent overdrive is the key. The$10-20. cheapest, best sounding pedal is the Ibanez ts10 from ebay for like $10-20. It's a clone of the original square button screamer. I know this sounds stupid but you might pick one up for 20 bucks and be amazed like I was. I only use true bypass but if money is an issue the ts10 is great tone for almost no money. If you can afford it, get Keely. Hope this helps

Great advice.I know when I play any of my amps ,I always roll my tone pot tp between 4-7 at the absolute most.It makes a huge difference.Especially with the blues deluxe which is a pretty bright amp to begin with.Even when I have played it clean, the tone is set at 7 on my guitars.

I picked up this little gem from Guitar fetish.....best blues driver I have ever tried.

Just listen to the sound clips and I think you will like what you hear.

i'm likely to get a smackdown for this but the answer isn't a o.d. pedal it's a compressor. the amp is very dynamic (not a bad thing) sometimes too much. i have an l.p. ,stanard strat (57/62 pups) and an e.c. strat. i went through 3 tube changes (power and pre amp) finaly ended up with sovtek 6l6wxt+ and 12ax7wc. i was realy looking for the o.d. of a tweed twin ri or a 57 deluxe. i realized that the amp would not compress like the amps with a tube rectifier. the dynamics (out of control) would keep it loud and clear because that's what it was made to do. even with my e.c. strat it would just get louder with a volume increase from the guitar. i dug out an old comressor pedal and put it in the effects loop and played with the controls a little ( level at 40% to control the amps volume prob. attack at 25% and comp. at 40% for the twin type comp and 50% for the deluxe ).it serves a dual purpose ,a volume cont. and a comp. to sound like a different amp. i'm not trying to change anybodys life or start a contraversy, just to let a fellow bdri owner on to another trick and a path to a good tone. give it a try...you may be surprised at what you get. i use the o.d. channel and set the gain at 3 and the master at full to let the pwr. tubes do the work. i set the clean channel at 5. i use the guitar to control the o.d. . with the guitar at 5 it's clean and clear with deffinition ( on the o.d. channel) at 10 it's a smooth and sustained o.d. with deffiniton. with the standard strat it is an "angry sweatty pig" with the compression turned up to 50%( very much like a 57 deluxe). the l.p. just roars. god i love it.
