Help!!

No sound at all on any volume level.

Guitar fine
Chord fine
Both checked with existing Line6 amp

It looks like all tubes are glowing but the small preamp tube closest to the edge. If you are looking from right to left on the back, the far right tube does not appear to be glowing.

Ideas?

If its definitely not glowing at all (some tubes glow less) then its a bad tube and thats why you aren't getting anything. Those amps you are better re-tubing anyway.

I always recommend JJ's. The stock Fender branded GT's are harsh.

You can grab a pre-amp tube on its own for cheap though, if you don't already know this, and simply slot it in.

Best of luck and enjoy your new amp.

I just checked
Fuses good

Moved the suspect tube to another slot and it stayed dark. The other two tubes have a silver color on the tips, this one does not and just "looks' weird.

Gonna see if GC has one for me

They will do. I recommend JJ's, Electro-Harmonix or Mesa for very decent quick fix 12AX7's and dirt cheap too.

Did you checked if the speaker was pluged in? When I bought mine, the reverb tank wasn't. Good luck. :)

Alright! Got tone!

It was the preamp tube. Picked up one at GC. Not an exact match though. I got a dash C instead of a dash R...not sure what that will mean but not important because I ordered a set of JJ's to retube the whole thing next week.

Reverb tank and speaker where fine. This tube had no silver in the top part of the tube. Almost like it was evacuated.

Good to hear!

When you get the JJ's you will notice a huge difference too. Enjoy!

I was interested in your fix because I have a Tweed Blues Jr on its way via UPS myself. I like your choice on tubes with The JJ Teslas. Im going to replace my tubes with JJ's also real soon. I'm thinking of replacing the speaker with a Celestion GreenBack. And I plan couple other Billm mods and then the JJs will be done. People seem to really be loving these Blues Jrs, I had to get myself one** The waiting on the UPS delivery of my amp is un hip though, I have 2 days to wait still. :P Patience sucks* Good luck with your amp**

When I got my Blues Jr NOS a couple of years ago, three preamp tubes were not in their sockets (stuck to the speaker magnet). I've heard that's a common problem.

The dead tube is exactly why the engineers all thought transistors were a great leap forward. They weren't, but some things you gotta put up with when using tube gear.

Hi DarkStarr71

All that was wrong with my amp on arrival was the V1 PreAmp tube was just plain bad.

The guys at Eurotubes (even though it was not their problem to deal with) helped me work through the problem. Being that this is my first tube amp, I did not know what to do. I followed their instructions and 15 minutes later had the problem isolated to the bad tube. Ran down to GC got a pre amp tube and have been jamming ever since.

I am going to hold off on the Billm mods until I am familiar enough with the amp to decide what I like and don't like. So far I can tell you that I like the sound I am getting out of this amp better than my Line6 SpiderJam. I can't describe why other than it sounds more like what I hear when I go to watch people play.

There is a difference of opinion between Eurotubes and Billm regarding the bias settings on the Blues Jr. I would read both sides before you make up your mind on that mod. I am stuck myself on if I will or won't do that mod. The guys at Eurotubes have helped me twice now without me buying something first. I was all set to buy a tube kit and asking questions about the different options and they told me to play the amp a bit before I get the new tubes, again so I can determine what I like and don't like first. Then of course they assited me with my out of the box issue. So far they have earned my recommendation.

I got my Blues Jr. a few weeks ago and I'm quite pleased with the sound of it.Would a set of JJs make that profound a difference ?If they would about how much for a set and would I need to get it rebiased? Thanks.

I agree with CC,
JJs are great tubes. But every now and then you can find some true NOS gems. I got a set of RCA NOS 6V6s for my amp. I couldn't believe it. They are so sweet!! I can appreciate what a good set of tubes can do to your amp!

It looks like all tubes are glowing but the small preamp tube closest to the edge. If you are looking from right to left on the back, the far right tube does not appear to be glowing.

Ideas?

Got the same problem here. Got no tone and it pisses me off. I guess I must start looking for a JJ's tube. Or is there any better preamp tube for this?
