A combo amp is an amp that is contained in one cabinet as opposed to a seperate cabinet for the pre-amp and speakers.

I may sound silly but, I prefer small combo amps over separate head/cabinet units. My reason, I am not a big rock guy, when I gig and record I like to have my stuff in one nice small package. Plus, less to worry about moving around..:)

Saying that ABS the reason I was trying to sell my DeVille was the sheer weight of it and carrying it drunk at 3 in the morning with only one handle. I'm not a strong guy like you bro!

I'm still looking for a Super-Sonic head to make life easier but when it comes to small combos like ABS mentioned I love them. If my friends are having a BBQ or whatever we grab our little Champs and chop the night away! Good times.

The only reason I went back to head and cabinets is because I just got tired of tube rattle with the combo amps. If you ever saw an Egnater Rebel 20 in person you'd laugh. I almost tripped over it in the store. The head is tiny and so is the cabinet. I only run two 112 cabs in bigger venues.

I liked the look right away. It's kind of eye catching and I'm not one who really cares what stuff looks like. :D

My Marshall 4210 and Traynor Guitar Mate weigh a ton and are combo amps. With my horrible back I'd rather use a head with a lightweight 2-12 cabinet.Currently I have 2 4-12 cabs a Marshall 1960 for my 2204 and a Vox 4-12 BN for my AD120VTH,surprisingly the smaller Vox cab is heavier than the Marshall 96lbs..I really need to get a 2-12 cab that can also be used in stereo as the Vox amp is stereo.Does anybody know of a 2-12 cabinet that can be used in both stereo and mono?

With a convertible hand cart, combos or heads and cabs as well as the rest of your gear are a snap to carry - until you hit flights of stairs.
