Tonight I plugged my Blues Junior in, (pretty new) and it was like amplifying feedback or something....static (?) Never has happened before. Any suggestions for remedy?

Thank you!

You could have a defective tube.

Preamp tube maybe. 12AX7 or ECC83. We call that microphonic tube.

To find the bad one; power on on your amp,
volume at low level
with something "soft" like pencil, plastic tube, small piece of wood, knock on each tube. The bad one will make a sound on your speaker.

Replace it with a new one

Stratele52 thanks for the tip I'll give it a try. By the way how long do tubes
useually last? Do they have an average rated life like light bulbs?

Thank you,

Tagg

How long tubes last ?

Average; many hundred hours
We could say that bad tubes will always glow (light) even if he is bad
You may have to change your output tubes more often than preamp tubes.
Bad tubes give soud, but weak soud , sound not as it's best, or noise.

And remember, when replacing output tubes, always check bias for long life and best sound and tone of your tubes

I appreciate your help thank you.

I've only had my amp a few months and don't use always when I play.

You mentioned "bias"...could you please explain...I don't what it means.

Thank you :-)

I checked all my tubes and re-installed being careful that they were all seated in their sockets properly.

I'm happy to say that the problem has been corrected and my Strat and amp
sound great again. The staticky noise is gone when I play.

Thank you for taking the time to help me out. I appreciate it a lot.
