hello every one
I have a fender bassman 59 2003
i play withe a gibson bb king lucille
this is an amazing amp and i discover thet it is even beter when it's cranked up , it have an amazing worm overdrive thet i have never heard from overdrive pedal , i have the bk buttler but it is not even close .
this overdrive start when i put the volume at 5.5 but the real action is when i put it on 7 , a m a z i n g ,
my question is : can it damage the amp if i play it when it's cranked up (volume on 7 ) or it's just wearing the tubes ??????
(the bb king lucille have an output of a single coil )

Welcome to the forum. No, you're not going to hurt the amp. After a period of hard use, you may have to replace the tubes, but that's the name of the game.

Almost all amps are built to handle being maxxed out for long periods of time as builders know that's how a lot of people play, the same goes for speakers. But as posted above be prepared to replace your tubes more often.

You will heat it up a bit, but a good amp like yours is made to pump the pain. Use it man. I set an MB450H Marshall the same way as you do your Bassman 59. It just sounds better up a bit.

You probably will not hurt your amp, but I can absolutely guarantee without a shadow of a doubt that your will permanently damage your hearing.

We all love to play, and sometimes loud sounds better, but you might take some steps to protect your hearing. Sustained sound over 85 decibels will damage your inner ear.

This is a lesson I learned too late. Get yourself some earplugs.

Many of the great rockers are near deaf now, Clapton, Beck, Townsend, Eddie van Halen all report huge hearing loss. Eric Johnson has it too.

Playing at extreme levels is like staring at the sun, its just that you do not notice it immediately.

Enjoy but take care.

No point having a valve amp if your not going to put the volume above seven.

pop one of these in the back and you can get the same sound, but at lower levels:

I have one in my '65 Bandmaster combo and it lets me use it at home for practice without annoying the rest of the family and the neighbors. Worth looking into.

7 is nothing for a 59 Bassman, thats why they go to 12. I was playin mine on 6 with my SG and it gave me wood.

Nedorama,
Does your brakelite generate much heat?

No. It's rated for amps 40 watts and under, and doesn't get warm in the cabinet. So it's really a "cool" piece of gear...
