I have a G-dec 15 and its well -ok - for what it does as a practice amp. I have an opportunity to pick up a Cyber-Twin as trade for some equipment but wonder how the two compare. Are they the same sounds? The g-dec is not something I would ever record - but how does the CyberTwin hold up?

BTW Johnny, you called me a teenager on your locked thread. I'm not I'm nearly 30 and have been a professional since I was a teenager, almost half my life ago.
As people on the forum know (and photos have been posted) I've toured with some very well known musicians here in Ireland and the UK and all the way to NYC.
This is why I use tubes. It pays my bills and frankly its MY choice.

sorry bout that. but listen, you pushed pretty hard too, so what did you expect? i do apologize for my warped sense of humor. the aweful thing about writing in a forum is the lack of human contact. i do have a feeling if we ever met in person, we would probably have a pretty good time.

btw, i used to own a bunch of tube amps, i now use cyber twins (i typically use 2 simultaneously), i play surf, mostly for fun, friends and a few local pubs/coffee houses. my fav group are currently the mermen (check them out on YouTube). no i don't make a living out of playing, i do other things.

i bought a cyber twin mainly as a curiousity to see what i could get out of it. it began with utter frustration then over the years i discovered what the amps can really do - these amps do have some incredible sweet spots and these sweet spots depend on the kind of music you play. what i really like about them is their versatility and incredible reliability. from my personal experience, these have been good amps, and have been very good to me. but they are complicated. i consider these to be the first generation digital pro amps, am expecting much greater things to come.

so i got to wondering, what else can we get out of a modern amp? maybe the answer is a tube amp augmented by all sorts of digital wonder, i really don't know, but do know that tube technology can't get you hooked up to the internet.

well, i do not want to hijack this thread, but i felt you needed a personal response, with that, adieu & wish you the best in your career.

ciao,
johnny.

It was me doin the hi-jacking. I think it all boils down to personal choice as with anything. I don't doubt your amps sound great. It just not what I want. The same same way a Les Paul is not what I want in a guitar cos I don't like the sound as much as Fender or Gretsch etc.

Peace Johnny and I wish you a happy Easter friend. 8)

Again sorry for the hi-jack!

Get a room you two :)

anyway...

what I wonder is this... is the g-dec just a stripped down cyber twn. Did they just take 40 (or so) samples of some of the better cyber sounds and stick them into a smaller amp for gneral consumption. Im sure the bigger amp is mpore powerful, more configurable, etc, etc.. - but does it improve upon these 40 (or so) sounds. I guess what im saying is - when i listen to the g-dec i do not hear a professional sound as compared to playing through my "normal" amps.

Note: i should just try this out for myself but this particular amp is a 2 hour drive away.
