What kind of guitar are you buying?
What type of music do you want to play?
What is your budget?

Im thinking in buying a fender standard stratocaster, and I play all types

of music I dont have much problems with budget but dont want to buy

something simple just to get me going, and then probably upgrade it later.

a mexican strat is a good place to start... just be sure to have it set up properly for the string guage you'll be using. and be warned that a single string breaking will affect the tuning of the remaining strings. just the nature of the beast.

or go with a hardtail strat.. the bridge is bolted to the body and the strings anchor to metal ferrules in the body... no tremolo instability, no additional setup/string changing acrobatics... but also no vibrato capability.

Or... go with a tele. for the same reasons as the hardtail... different pickup options, of course.

As for an amp... depends again on what you're interested in playing, where you're gonna be using it, how maintenance-capable you are (changing tubes, etc...) Obviously, any amp with "blues" in the name will probably not be appropriate for hi-gain metal... and playing jazz/country (clean stuff) with something like the new EVH half stack probably isn't the best way to go either...

I'd start with a small combo... it will be loud enough for bedroom / practice / small venues and can be miked in a larger setting...

Good luck

Yeah give us a little more info and I am sure we can get you dialed right in. Are you going for the humbucker strat or all singles. What type of music are you going for??
