G'day all, I'm new here in the forum and thought I'd share a couple of pics of my BJ. I truly love this amp, it has great tone, the cabinet is made of Bubinga, a beautifully resonant wood and no sign of boxiness here. I've owned her since new and played many gigs with this amp and it's never let me down in the 10 years I've owned it. The interior has been signed by someone from the Fender Custom Shop but I can't make out the person's name.

Welcome to the forum No457 Snowy. That is a very cool amp, thanks for sharing that. I didn't know that Fender made custom shop amps. Well, live and learn. :)

Beautiful amp! Nice dovetailing on the cabinet and I like the fabrics, particularly the back. How's does the tone compare to the standard or NOS versions?

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the nice comments guys!

Funnily enough most times I've taken it into a club to play, people just ignore it and take no notice, which suits me just fine as I get very nervous if any stranger goes within 10 feet of it, especially if they are holding a beer!

It's about 10 years old this year and I'm starting to get more nervous about taking it anywhere, although I've always used uber-extreme caution when I have done, I've always felt that it was really born to be played and so that's what I've done.

I've managed to keep it in un-marked/mint condition by keeping it in it's case at all times. When it's time to set up I take it out sit it on top of it's box and play, then, when finished I give it a wipe with a micro-fibre cloth and put it back in it's case.

ckfoley, the sound is great and the normal BJ's I've heard sound quite a bit smaller/less detailed, though I haven't heard an NOS one and hey, sound is a bit subjective and who wants to admit they've bought an expensive amp that doesn't sound better than a cheaper one?

I guess it's just the difference that comes when a tone-wood like Bubinga (used by Luthiers for making Harps, high end Basses and drums etc) is used to contribute to the amp sound, treating it as part of the whole instrument, rather than just being a box to hold the amps guts.

I'm seriously considering a PRRI though now and leaving this one at home from now on, as I may have been lucky so far to have not had it damaged.

Cheers,

Snowy
