which would be louder? A Vox Valvetronix AD30VT, a Fender FM 65R, or a Epiphone Valve Junior Half Stack? give suggestions if you can think of some better ones. :D

Its not just a matter of volume, as they can all get loud enough to annoy your neighbors/roommates/the cops.... its more a matter of what kind of tone are you looking for, where are you gonna use it:

bedroom or studio for low volume practice/recording
garage band - trying to keep up with the other musicians
local/regional/national touring band, playing thru a full PA system (amp is mic'd)

The Epi will give you low-to-med gain overdrive tones... blues/rock stuff
the FM65 will give you good clean tones... but the distortion channel on a solid state amp leaves lots to be desired.

The vox has modeling... will give you lots of options, you have to be willing and able to do lots of tweaking to get the tones you like.

So... in summary:

Epiphone - real tubes, low volume
Fender - good clean, not so good distortion, moderate volume
Vox - modeling versatility, user defined presets

It would be like walking into your local car dealership... do you want the purity of a sports car, the familiarity and reliability of a 4 door family sedan or the versatility and cargo/towing ability of an SUV?

For the money (or at least not much more) get a Fender Blues Jr or a Peavey Classic 30... both will run circles around those 3, are plenty loud for small clubs or practice, sound good when mic'd in a larger venue... and can also power a 412 cabinet (which can also be mic'd).

are the Epiphone Valve Junior 1x12 Extension Cabs very loud?
i was just thinking that maybe i could get the fender champ 600 and connecting it to a speaker cab. would that sound better than the stack itself?
