When I put a multi effect unit in the effects loop, I get a loud hum. With nothing in the effect loop, the amp is quiet. Can anyone help me on this ? just put in new preamp tubes, this didn't solve it. Haven't replaced the power amp tubes yet.

Your amp is ok,and it's not your tubes.

Your hum is comming from you multi effect.

Are sure you can plug your multi effects in effect loop ?
Effect loop is only for modulation effect, not fuzz, distortion, etc

What the owners manual say ?

You could have a cable problem, a ground loop problem also. The amp is most likely not the problem. Another thing to consider is contact cleaner in the efx loop jacks. Spray in and work a plug in and out of each jack several times then allow fumes to dissipate before firing it up.

When I use the same cables and plug them into the normal input, I get no noise. I'll try using contact cleaner, but I doubt this will work... Thanks for the idea.
