I discovered a cache' of 'Made in Holland' Hammond organ tubes yesterday and among them were several 12ax7's, 12au7's and two EL86's. I popped the 12ax7's in my Blues Junior and it made a big difference in tone. Very sweet sounding! I don't suppose I can use the EL86's in my amp that has EL84's?

They may be manufactured by Philips in Heerlen, Holland. This is the factory that made the famous Amperex Bugle Boy tubes. If they are from Heerlen they will have a small right triangle mark on the lower portion of the tube. If that's what they are, you have a wonderful find.

I use them in my amps and they sound great; far better than any of the new production tubes and among the best in the golden years of vacuum tubes.

Hammond supposedly used Mullard and Philips tubes for their organs. I got mine from an old 1950's tube divider organ that also included a really nice pair of 6L6GC's. That worked out great for my Blues Deluxe.
