Yeah Eric, I'll start the ball rolling with my favorite set-up. A '95 Matchless Clubman 35, 2X12 or 4X10 cab with a Strat. Art

no no no, it's a 57 Bandmaster tweed with the 3x10 speakers for the impedance mismatch.

Eric - there is no overall amp for playing blues - it's like asking what's the best guitar?

Different people at different levels with different financial means will give you different answers. However i'd submit that for any style:

Amp: 20%
Guitar: 20%
Effects: 10%
Person Playing: 50%

Jeez...I hate "best" threads. If you get 100 posts, then you'll have 100 different answers, I gaurantee it. There is no "best" of anything. Too subjective. I could have a favorite amp for this or that, but it might not work for you. Da Blooz comes from your soul, not your gear.

But if you really need to have an answer....this amp pictured below is the best blues amp becuase this amp actually has the blues. If you can afford something better, than you're sitting pretty and you ain't got the blues 8)

I have owned many Fenders throughout the years. Some need a little push in the front (your choice of overdrive pedal), some just cranking the volume up, will get Ya to blues heaven. The majority of it is in your hands and soul. I love a Bassman for Blues work, a little lower price wise The Blues Jr. is a little dream amp ( I would look for an older American made model, maybe just me, but the Mexican Jr's just don't seem to have the same Mojo). Last but not least if your budget will not allow the other two, consider a Champion 600. For a low volume amp, it cranks out some beautiful blues tones with great articulation at about 11 on the volume knob.
The best thing to do, is take YOUR guitar to an authorized Fender dealer, and listen to them, and judge for yourself. Tone is a personal thing, you need to find your own my friend. All of the input you get out here will be sincere, and what has worked for others, maybe give Ya some amps to consider. However nothing better than You,your guitar, and a line of amps to consider.

I have to agree since I own one. The only thing I had to buy a Mr. Springgy pedal(by Lee Jackson) for some reverb!!

This is going to sound like a marketing ploy for fender... But I really like the Fender Blues Deluxe 40 watt.. The twin reverbs and deluxe reverbs are more clean jazz amps to me.. But really all the more expensive fender tube amps like the twin, bassman, hot rods, deluxe reverb, super reverb, blues deville etc.. are all outstanding blues amps

Everybody needs an amp.

Everybody also quotes their own amps as being the best.

So when someone asks what's the best amp the end result of that thread is that you get to see which amps sell the best but not necessarly which are the best amps. The best amps for Blues are the ones nobody can afford. They are simply out of reach for most people. Like a Vibro-King, for one example. But few can afford a Vibro-King (or other amps of that caliber) so they suggest a Hot Rod Deluxe or some such.

I think your all wrong. Its the VHT pitbull as featured on Megadeth's Rust in Peace album. Classic blues tone that.
