I've been playing a Boss gt6 and a Peavey nanovalve for a while now, but feeling as though the only amp sound I use on the Boss is the Fender tweed sound with a bit of drive, and that a Peavey amp is really a cheaper not-quite Fender. I also feel that I would like to have more than 5watts output in one carriable package.

The amp itself seems to get very positive reviews from a lot of people and the opinions i've seen on the sounds it produces have been generally positive, although I'd never use an ultra metal setting - maybe at most somwhere along the lines of a Blackmore/early Scoprions Uli Jon Roth setting, and probably a lot of the fender-y tones which everyone seems to think are great.

I definately think I need 2 channels hence going for the superchamp over the vibrochamp or blues junior, and am interested in finding out how a footswitch works with the amp. Will it change channels as well as turning the effects on or off (assuming I use something other than reverb)?

The SCXD is a nice amp but I'd like to disagree with your statement on Peavey. I own an SCXD and a Peavey Classic 30. The Peavey amp is a better sounding amp and made in the U.S. They can be bought used for around the same price as the SCXD. However having said that, as a small practice amp or for smaller gigs the SCXD offfers a lot of options. I saw Buddy Guy last month and there were no Fender amps on the stage however his other guitarist who was great was using a Peavey amp. Buddy was using a Chicago Blues Box amp. Don't every let anyone tell you that Peavey is second rate.

On the contrary, I have used several peavey amps and actually used to own a valve king stack and it was very good and versatile, but for me the clean sounds never match the beautiful sparkliness of a classic fender amp...

If I remember correctly, the footswitch does just that - change channels and turn on/off effects. Although I don't think it comes with the amp; pretty sure you have to buy it separately.

Right on both counts (I have an SCXD) -- it's a two button switch and it is worth having in my opinion. None of the effects operate in the clean setting so even adding slight reverb or whatever requires switching.

Not sharpshooting you but the effects do work on the clean channel..I use the reverb all the time on my clean channel. I use this amp extensively and love it. I also have a nice old Peavey Bandit 65 which I also enjoy using. But for the cleans nothing in my opinion beats the Fender tone.

Basically because it's not a Fender amp It's a Peavey with it's own sound.
The newer Fender amps like the HRDlx, Deville, VM series and Blues Deluxe and Jr IMO actually miss the Classic Fender sound by a mile. Not that it a real bad thing, it's just different.

Hmmm maybe I'm doing something wrong; I'll go with what you say since you know what you're talking about. (I'm not in front of it.)

(Never sharpshooting to correct an incorrect statement in my opinion -- thanks for doing it!)

I agree with airborne. The effects work on the clean channel of my SCXD also.
