I use a Cyber Foot Controller with my Cyber Deluxe. Lately, my CFC has been acting wacky. If I put much weight at all on the CC pedals, it resets, as if the power had been turned off and right back on again. The display flashes "00". Yesterday, it actually went into "tuner" mode. :o The amp stays on the same patch, but I have to cycle thrugh the banks to get back to where I was.

I'm guessing I have a loose jack, a bad solder connection, or even a cracked circuit board inside the CFC. I haven't had a chance to take it apart yet to investigate.

Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? If so, what did you find, and how did you fix it?

Sam.

First of all, why are you putting all your weight on the pedals? Even if it is in a metal chassis... the PCB inside is epoxied fiberglass... like the flag post for the pin flag on a golf course.

This sounds like a warranty repair. However, DO NOT tell the tech/store that you've been putting all your weight on the thing, they'll probably use that as an excuse to weasel their way out of fixing it on their dime.

If its not under warranty, your best bet is to buy a new controller... most shops either won't be able to fix it... or will charge you a good chunk of change to do the job... and you'll end up with a repaired item vs a new one that hopefully carries its a new warranty.

Who said I was putting all my weight on it? Hell, I weigh 270 lbs, so even something as sturdy as the CFC would have been pancaked long ago if I did that! No, I was talking about the normal pressure applied when using the CC pedals. It isn't taking much to cause a problem.

I've had my CFC for several years, so it's out of warranty. I'm taking it to the shop next week to have it checked out. Hopefully it's just a bad solder joint and not a cracked PCB.

Sorry, as usual, my dyslexia knows no bounds... and I misread your opening statement. However, I HAVE seen people literally STAND on a footswitch that's acting up... Never mind drunk girls on stage dancing around pedalboards... I tend to mute inputs on the soundboard when that happens... Good luck with the repair.

If its acting like its going thru a power reset, then it could be a bad power or ground connection. If its doing other things, hopefully the chipset inside isn't damaged.

Not a problem. I've done the same thing before.

The repair shop I talked to said it "sounds like" a bad solder connection more than anything else. If that's the case, it'll be an easy fix.
