+1 Peavey are Americam Made products. Lower stage volume is great for your ears and the mix. High quality lower wattage amps are a great way to go. You get to "push" the tubes a little harder to get a more natural sound.

The peavey classic is a great amp for the money.Too bad they quit making the classic 20.The drri sounds pretty good at lower volumes. I have mine down to 2.5 and still get good tones. The hr sounds like crap at lower volumes, but just a small twitch and its way too loud.

The HRD actually has a narrow band where it sounds bad at low volumes decent around 4-6, then get all farty when you push it hard unless you put a decent speaker. They too a good Eminence Legend series speaker and "customized" it to meet a certain price point and ruined it. It's a shame because the amp has a lot of potential.

I've got a new Blues Junior and really enjoy it. It's a little 'stiff' sounding, but I'm sure the speaker will break in soon. If you can swing it; I'd consider:

Deluxe Reverb RI
Blues Deluxe
Princeton Reverb

It would be worth saving your money for a while to do the DRRI!!!

Of the above amps ,drri is on top.A ways below that is the prri.WAYYYYY below that is the blues deluxe .Not really in the same league as the other 2.Tonally or build wise.I have one now that I will probably eventually sell.My deluxe reverb gets all the action.

Generally I always suggest to steer clear of the Hot Series in general if you plan on doing any kind of serious gigging.
