Hey Tone Gurus!

While reviewing the manual for my Blues Deluxe Reissue, it cautioned that one of the following load configurations--Internal 8 Ohm, Internal 8 Ohm+External 8 Ohm or an "open" plug+External 4 Ohm, must "always" be connected when powered on. My question, as stupid as this may sound, can I disconnect the disconnect the internal speaker and plug in an 8 Ohm headphones in it's place for private listening? Will this damage the amp? Is there a minimum wattage for the speaker that must be adhered to?

As always, your responses are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

The answer in no.

8 ohms headphone don't damage your amp, but today, most headphones are 35 ohms or more. So it's not good for your amp.

AND for use an headphone on your speaker output, you need a drop resistor because too much power even if you put volume very low. You will heard noise .

And without the resistor you can damage your headphone

You can plug headphone on Line Out, if you have one, and you must also put a load (speaker) on your speaker output. But you will hear the soud.

You can also put an 8 ohms resistor, solder to a guitar jack, in speaker out. You won't hear any soud and you amp will be safe.

Put at least 10 watts resistor
