Hey Tone Gurus!

Got my Blues Deluxe Reissue about a week ago and have been twiddling around with it. All in all I love the amp. I didn't sample this amp when I purchased it at Guitar Center. I actually tested out a clean and new amp. But when it came time to purchase it, another Blues Deluxe Reissue was on a Manager's Floor Model Clearance list for $250.00 off the retail price. their were a few smudges and two wear marks on the bottom front which didn't bother me one bit. I took it without really testing it knowing that I could just return if I decided I didn't like it after a comprehensive test at home and in the studio/stage.

When I got the amp home I found it to emanate a greater deal of hiss compared to the newly displayed model that I tried a GC. On the clean channel, with the presence and the reverb off and the EQ set to noon, the amp starts to hiss once the volume passes 4. It's not too annoying but this is a Fender and I know it should be better than that.

Note: The hissing is audible with nothing plugged in, an unmodified American Deluxe Stratocaster plugged directly into the amp as well as running with a full effects chain. This hissing is different from the buzzing of single-coil pickups or ground loops.

My Question: Since this is a marked down floor model which has been sitting for who knows how long and just powered on and off abruptly by people who don't know the procedures for maximizing the life the the tubes, could this be the issue? I was thinking of ordering a fresh set of tubes from Eurotubes--their most expensive set for this amp: the Fender Blues Deluxe-Deville Gold Pin Blues Option, is still under $100.00. If this could fix the problem then I'd still be saving $150.00 off the retail price with a potentially better sound with JJ's higher quality tubes.

Any opinions on this or any other advice will be greatly appreciated. My thanks in Advance.

In my opinion, you are better to return the amp.

If it's the output tubes, you need to do bias when you change those tubes. And it cost you money for that , plus tubes.

And you are not sure it will fix problem.
