Anyone read this book by Tom Wheeler; forward by Keith Richards?

It's about the last 60 years of Fender amps: lots of history, and probably a little more technical info. than appeals to all but the most avid "amp gurus".

It includes two CD's: one with demos (by Greg Koch) of many of the most popular original vintage amps and another demo'ng (by various artists- mostly Fender employees) modern amps. It is by far more orriented to tube amps, but does go into SS amps including the CBS fiascos and the more successful modern SS amps.

Thought I'd pass along this info. for those enthusiasts who may not have known about it, and to solicit "reviews" from those who have read it (or at least parts of it). Couldn' find any previous threads referencing it using the search.

I love this book! Similar to the Stratocaster Chronicles. Lots of detailed info, yet not a boring read. The pictures of vintage amps are drool worthy. The CD's are well done, and the Greg Koch one is actually entertaining. I still go back to the book every now and then to use a reference guide when researching about a particular Fender amp (except bass amps. The book only devotes a short chapter to bass amps).

Got it for my birthday and am only on chapter 3. A great book to read, or just skim. Plus, it fits nicely on the coffee table.
